Hi folks,
I took and uploaded a video this afternoon but there seems to be a problem processing it. I'll give it a go tomorrow. In the meanwhile, all is well here, Birdie is a great mom and is keeping her puppies clean and well-fed. They are now orienting toward me when I come in the room and are yapping and clambering to get out of the whelping pool!

This evening I gave the pups their first meal of free range eggs and fresh milk!

Hi All,
I just sent in the application for AKC registration for the pups... DN307719 is our litter number. As a breeder of merit, the AKC asks that we register all the pups in the litter. I can do this for you all at a discounted rate of $10 per pup (vs $25) but would need names for them all before sending in the application.

If I have names for everyone before it is time for them to leave home, I'll be happy to do it.

I believe I will name my puppy 'Briarlea Nightingale of Rustic Road' to stay with the Bird theme of Lark, Steller Jay, Blackbird...

The pups have really come to life the last couple of days and are vigorous and ACTIVE! WooHoo!

The pups are doing fine, I've moved them off the front porch into our little addition...this is right off the laundryroom that leads into the kitchen. This morning there is a load of laundry going already, Solo's in the kitchen keeping me company and hoping for a goodie and Birdie's keeping him there. We usually have a great old Navajo rug on the floor but for obvious reasons it's been pulled up ~ at any rate, it turns out this room is perfect for pups!

We've been having storms again today; in Minneapolis a tornado touched down and wreaked havoc. But we did manage to upload this little clip.

The pups still have their eyes closed although this morning I noticed one of the female pups sitting up which is a little odd for as young as they are!

Noon update!

I'm finally able to get online - what a storm!
It appears that the litter will be 6 pups and it consists of 2 females and 4 males! How lucky for us! If you are on the list to the right, one of the pups has your name on it :)

Lightning and Thunder

Those might be appropriate names as these pups are being born in a wild storm! Birdie had her last pup about a half hour ago - I'll update around noon...but so far, 6 nice healthy pups and a normal whelping!

Birdie came home to us last night; Seth, Bonnie and Anthony brought her along with the new loader for the tractor - hard to say which was more exciting! She has settled right in, making herself at home and meeting Flirt, our Papillon puppy. She's in good spirits and is eating heartily!
